Who Am I
Lynne's biography
I am a mum, a grandmother, a social worker and counsellor. If you are here, you are maybe feeling tired from carrying so much on your own for such a long time. Maybe anxiety lingers quietly in the background, never quite easing, or your thoughts spiral and keep circling, never being able to find a moment of rest.
Whatever has brought you to this place in your life, you deserve a gentle space and the time, where your story can be heard, and where you can set down the weight you have been carrying, even if it is just for a moment.
I offer a calm, compassionate space where you can slow down, reflect, and feel heard without judgement. I believe that healing begins through genuine connection and that each person's story deserves to be met with care, curiosity, and respect.
I have worked alongside people with various issues, including stress, burn out, low self-confidence, trauma, anxiety, physical and emotional abuse and depression. I fully comply with the NCPS Ethical Framework for Counsellors and follow the NCPS Guidelines for online Counselling and Psychotherapy.
I work in private practice and offer face to face therapy in Whitchurch and also provide online or telephone counselling. I work with adults from aged 18 years up to and beyond retirement.
My work is grounded in a humanistic, person-centred approach, based on the belief that the client is the expert in the room. Through warmth, empathy, and authenticity, I support clients to reconnect with their inner resources and find their own way forward. I do not offer advice or personal opinions, as my aim is to empower individuals to follow their own path. This space belongs to you, not me. It is your time and you lead the pace; I will walk alongside you. There is no expectation for you to be anything other than yourself.
I support exploration of challenges whilst helping clients reconnect with their strengths, resilience, and sense of self. Alongside person-centred therapy, I draw on an integrated approach, recognising the value that other therapeutic models can offer. I embrace difference and I will tailor my approach based on your needs in a non-judgemental environment. You will always be accepted for who you are and I will meet you there and we will begin to untangle everything together.
With over 45 years of experience working with both adults and children across a wide range of issues, my goal is to create a safe, trusting environment where unwanted feelings and difficulties can be explored by supporting understanding, healing, and meaningful change. I am a real person first and counsellor second. I am a human who knows what it feels like to be on the other side and sit where the client sits.
With a background in social work, I am experienced in working with care experienced adults and children and survivors of domestic abuse and sexual abuse. I understand how early and relational trauma can impact upon self-worth, trust and identity. I have supported individuals through some of life's most challenging moments and that experience has shaped my deep belief in resilience, dignity and the importance of gaining an holistic understanding of each person within their wider life context.
In the uncertain world we currently find ourselves living in, it is completely understandable to feel anxious, unsettled or overwhelmed at times. When so much feels unpredictable, your mind and body are simply trying to make sense of it all, but you don't need to do that alone. As a previous expat in the Middle East, I also work with clients who have returned to the UK from overseas and international clients worldwide, excluding USA and Canada.
If you are questioning whether this is the right time, and your struggles are enough, or perhaps you feel too overwhelmed to ask for support, please know that you don't need to measure them. You are welcome here exactly as you are, wherever you find yourself right now. You can let yourself pause for a moment; soften your grip, unclench your jaw, and allow a little of the tension to ease.
Let us find some time to talk. Please feel free to send me a message. I would love to hear more about what you are going through. Finding the right fit with a therapist is important and if it turns out it is not me, I am here to help you find someone who is.
I am grateful you are here.
Sometimes the bravest and most important thing you can do is just show up.
